paying for the games

the home teams are responsible for putting the money in the pool table for the games, or leave table open for access to balls.

racking the balls:

the visiting team will rack for the complete match.  the top ball will be put on the foot spot & the eight ball will be in the middle of the 3rd row (which consists of 3 balls).  the breaker may ask that the opponent re-rack if balls shift off foot-spot or are too loose.

breaking the balls:

•1)    home team breaks.  at least 4 balls must hit the cushions for a legal break, or a ball pocketed.  if not, balls will be re-racked by home team, & opponents have choice whether they want to break or not.

  • 2) if cue ball leaves table without making a clean break (rule 1) oppponent has choice to break or not.

off the break:

if the shooter pockets one numbered ball without scratching, that will be yours (solid or stripes).  if the shooter makes one or more of each without scratching, table is still open until the next shot called is pocketed, then that will be yours.  if you pocket the 8-ball and scratch it is an automatic loss of game.

shooting the ball:

  • 1) the player shooting will call the ball & pocket they are shooting for. this is done for every shot (if not, opponent may call a foul & shooter forfeits turn). OPPONENTS MUST VERBALLY UNDERSTAND ALL SHOTS. shooter must hit one of his/her balls first on any combination played. the 8-ball is not neutral.

  • 2) NO split balls if you're using one of you balls and one of your opponents balls. IF YOU SHOOT THE EIGHT BALL UNDER THIS CONDITIONS IT WILL BE LOSS OF GAME IF YOU POCKET THE EIGHT BALL.

  • 3) three consecutive non-hits by the same set of partners in the same game is an automatic loss of game. PLAYER MUST HIT HIS/HER BALL OR FOUL WILL BE CALLED. ( NON-HIT)

  • 4) when shooting cue ball & foul is called for moving cue ball by miscue, dropping cue, touching, etc. cue ball will stay where it lands.

  • 5) if players create an UNDO delay over discussion of a shot, the opposing captain will then inform their captain that they are now being timed. shot must now be completed within 2 minutes (reg. season), 3 minutes (playoffs) or forfeit their shot.

  • 6) for the protection of the table there will be no jump-shots (where cue ball passes directly over the ball in front of it) BEHIND THE BACK SHOTS, ALL trick-shots where the butt end of the cue passes above the shoulder, except when the use of a rack is necessary.

pocketed balls:

  • 1) the ball must remain in pocket to be legal.

  • 2) the called ball must be the first ball to enter and drop into the called pocket. this has nothing to do with any of the other balls or pockets.

  • 3) if called ball hangs over pocket then drops in before opponents shoot, ball counts and shooter continues to shoot.

  • 4) if balls leave table, the shooters ball will be put on the spot or as close behind the spot as possible.

  • 5) opponents ball will be put down pocket.

after sewer:

the cue ball will be put on table with more than half the ball behind the linE.  (bottom of ball cannot be on the line) and opponents must agree.  you may shoot any ball that has more than half the ball on the other side of the line.  if shooters have all their balls behind the line, they may choose anyone of their balls & shooterS will spot it on, or as close and directly behind any ball that is already on the foot spot.  if the shooter has only the 8-ball left to shoot, and it is behind the line, it may be spotted on the footspot or as close and directly behind as possible by one of the shootiNG side.  if the opponents move your ball it IS LOSS of game.

shooting the eight ball:

you must call the eight ball  & POCKET, & make sure OPPONENTS VERBALLY UNDERSTOOD IT.  if not, opponent may call a foul and shooter loses game.  eight ball MUST BE MADE IN CALLE D POCKET AND NO OTHER BALL may drop in pockets or fall off the table, including cue ball or shooter loses game.  if shooter interferes with any balls on the table by tossing cue or touching balls before opponents admits loss, automatic loss of game.

LOOSING THE GAME:

•1)                            IF THE EIGHT BALL GOES DOWN POCKET OUT OF TURN.

•2)                            THREE CONSECUTIVE NON-HITS.

•3)                            WHEN A FOUL IS CALLED, ALL PLAY STOPS, IF THE SHOOTER CONTINUES TO SHOOT BEFORE THE FOUL IS RESOLVED; THE PENALTY IS LOSS OF GAME.

•4)                            if shooter interferes with any balls on the table by tossing cue or touching balls before opponents admits loss, automatic loss of game.

moving balls:

Any balls moved by the shooter is a foul if called by opponents.  this includes using your hands, chalk, cue, arms, etc.  if foul is called, opponent has choice to leave balls where they land or put balls back to everyones satisfaction.

shooter cannot touch balls after foul is called, and loses his/her turn.
